DAMIEN: Good afternoon and welcome to the VTalk Radio's Photography Spotlight. My name is Damien Allen, and today we are at the Great Lakes Institute of Photography Show at Northwestern Michigan College, and our guest today is Ron Zimmerman who is here representing Midwest Photo Excahange. How are you doing today, Ron?
RON: I'm great. How are you?
DAMIEN: Not too bad. So what's going on here at the show today?
RON: We are trying to sell camera equipment at the lowest prices in the country. We're trying to make deals that nobody else was willing to make.
DAMIEN: Really. So what kind of camera equipment do you sell, Ron?
RON: We sell a full line from Nikon to Canon, every kind of equipment that's out there from software to expo disks to light meters, to lights and soft boxes, you name it, tripods, we have it.
DAMIEN: Alright and where is the store located at generally?
RON: Our main store is in Columbus, Ohio, and with the Columbus, Ohio, location, we have several people there to answer phones and they can answer questions for you and things like that, but Stewart Applebaum, the owner of the store actually does traveling trade shows where he is actually on the road almost all year long at different places giving prices and best deals to anybody he can out there in the photographic market. He's at the PMA shows and all the NAP shows and any show that has to do with photography, he's part of.
DAMIEN: So you get full line photographic equipment through Midwest Photo Exchange. Do I get name brands? Do I get run offs? What do you get from there?
RON: The one thing that you're guaranteed to get is the best prices, best service, and everything and EVERYTHING has got the American warranty with it. All USA warranty. There's no gray market products. Everything is guaranteed and warranteed 100%. If you have a product that you're not happy with, they'll make you happy.
DAMIEN: In deed. So I can lighting equipment, camera frames, stands, anything I need as far as photographic equipment?
RON: Anything you need from the Timba backpacks to Low Pro Backpacks to, like I said, Pocket Wizards, to Syconic Meters, to Nikon cameras, to Canon cameras, to the little tablets that everyone is using for the computers, to software from Photoshop down to Color Effects Pro 3.0, Evasa, any of the products that you want to make a professional photographer or an amateur photographer successful at what they do, we've got it.
DAMIEN: Alright. So they have the main store down in Columbus, Ohio. I don't want to go to Ohio, how do I get in touch with these people?
RON: You very simply go online to www.mpex.com. You can order online or you can call the store at (614) 261-1264 and just tell them what you're looking for, and they've got specialists for each line. If you're looking for 35mm, they've got a specialist. If you're looking for medium or large format, they've got a specialist that deals with just that. If you're looking for lighting, they have someone who deals with just lighting. So you'll get to the right person that you're looking for.
DAMIEN: Ok, so what products that stand out did you bring with you this time?
RON: We have, of course, right here today, we've got the new Nikon D3 which is a hot seller and the D300. We also have the Canon 5Ds and the 40Ds, you know there's a constant war going on between Canon and Nikon right now for upgrading and we have the SV800s, we have the 580 EX flashes for the Canon. We have Q flashes, tripods, everything that you can basically find in the store, and if we don't have it, if you come here to buy at one of our shows, and we don't have what you want, we'll ship it to you at no charge.
